In the Wind

Just a post

Sharing a post I wrote on facebook

I've seen so many posts/meme's from people who are aching to kick 2016 out the door and bring in 2017.  Mostly due to celebrity deaths. Deaths of people that were known by the vast majority only for their outward presentation and not for who they really were. But anyhow -- this was what I wrote:

Tree time

It's up, not decorated - though the lights are on it (but not turned on)
And two little thingies for my daughter.

@kris - it only looks like that, in fact it is only about 5 and a half feet, not much taller than I. Is just the angle :)

I've been gone a little while.

It's not been an easy time. Last few posts on my blog are about it.

Day to day – In the Wind

So – just touching base here to keep things straight. Days just sort of meld into one another. Funeral was on the 22nd. Monday my son returned to Japan – ouch. That was a real huge load of sad feels watching him get into my dad’s car for the ride to the airport.  Then it was Tuesday. I had a 12-case of beer and drank them throughout the day....

It can never be destroyed. It can only change

I find it very interesting that belief. But although life is not destroyed, such as energy, but transforms, itself dissipates in each process and the laws of thermodynamics ensures the final cooling and the death,  for all we know so far...

I can't even imagine what you're going through, wish you peace and strength @In the Wind

@Manuel Jiménez Friaza this is not the time or place to debate belief systems. How the second law of thermodynamics plays out w/r/t the heat death of the universe is interesting but I think you should review the first law.

And Another Test Post

My Friendica->Wordpress stopped working, not sure where it has been foiled along the way.  So sending this one from #Hubzilla, let's see how far it gets.

It's been five years now...

I came to Diaspora about five years ago now, while Ilya was still there making posts - I still remember his last post. The animated butterfly gif.

Since that time I discovered Friendica, and then Libertree, and then Red/Hubzilla, GNUSocial and many other neat treats. The most wonderful thing is, that today while dealing with a trollish short on Diaspora, I had some dear friends whom I've known here a long time that chimed in with some very kind comments, and I realized how this is the only social network ive been on in which I've made connections with people who I don't know at all, don't even necessarily have much in common with but whom I consider to be a friend. On Facebook, I know pretty much everyone in my contacts (in real life) , and those I don't we only connect over shared opinion.

Here however it's like the idea of something new, a different way of doing things connected a whole group of strangers who have built an amazing bunch of communities over the years.
Diaspora, Friendica, Libertree, and StatusNEt/GNUSocial, Hubzilla... We find each other across the various platforms, even when one instance might go down here and there, and five years later the core people I initially met are still about and many new friends since.

You are all truly, really super awesome.
If you are on any of these others and want to connect directly -
Diaspora - https://diasp.org/u/birchwind or birch@diasp.org
Friendica - https://nerdica.net/profile/birch or birch@Nerdica.net
Hubzilla -   https://lastauth.com/channel/birch or birch@lastauth.com
Libertree - https://maple.libertree.org/p/birch or birch@maple.libertree.org

*cheers!*

I never tryed libertree. How is it ?
In the Wind

@kris  - Libertree is smaller scale , cross posting doesn't work both ways as far as communication, like here to Diaspora aor here to friendica - but its a nice community  and has the same principals of decentralized communication.

Test Two

So, I established that for whatever reason I can't post from #Friendica directly to Diaspora even though it is set up correctly on the Friendica side. It does post to Twitter and Wordpress though. This post is going from (hopefully) #Hubzilla to #Libertree, Wordpress, Twitter and Friendica. We shall see
